ABOUT US

PMB Security began its humble journey in the early 80’s. Founded by Brian and Mary Ann, and later joined by their children, has grown and adapted to serving the local community of Pietermaritzburg and surrounding areas. From the very early days of when a security system was really a desire for ones home, but more a necessity for ones car, this was where we began.

We installed hundreds of motor vehicle alarms and as the continued request for home & business protection grew, we decided to expand our service to install alarms for homes, schools, businesses and churches. At that point, we had now become more than just a family business whom installed alarms. It was now clear that personal security at home and at work needed a more effective form of response than merely a siren & a flashing light. This was when, in 1987, we started our control room and only 3 years later the armed reaction unit.

In 1988, we joined the South African Intruder Detection Services Association (SAIDSA), which governs the security installers of South Africa, so that we could ensure to our community that we intend to meet the highest standards set-out. We have maintained this corporate status since then, and strive to continue to do so.

As the years progressed and the technologies improved, we’ve continued to offer the most up to date solutions and services available to our clients. We have added more vehicles, and trained staff to be available and able to help better response to every clients needs.

Now that 20 years have passed, we still feel as determined today as we did back then, that the community & our loyal clients will continue to receive our best efforts to help keep them & their families safe, sound and secure.

PMB Security Products

• Quality electronic alarm systems

Since its establishment, PMB Security has being installing quality electronic alarm systems in homes and businesses.

A high priority is placed on reliability of the components used in the alarm system as it is imperative for client's to have faith in their system.

Over the years, alarm systems have improved tremendously. Originally these systems were simple single zone systems with all detection devices attached to the zone.

These days, the alarm system consists of many zones, allowing individual detection items per zone and many varied types of detection devices per system.

We can help design the best suited alarm system for your needs, by selecting the most appropriate size control panel, with features best suited to you, your environment, and living patterns.

Once the system design has been approved, we have expertly trained technical staff to install the alarm system and teach yourself & others on how to correctly operate the alarm system.

PMB Security has never and will never allow any unauthorized dealer to install any of its alarm systems. Direct control is kept over all installations.

All staff are screened and registered by the Private Security Industry.

Monitoring Service

We offer all our clients a state of the art 24/7 monitoring service. The control room is fully equipped to handle any activation event received from the client’s alarm system or person. Many of the mundane functions are handled by the sophisticated monitoring software, thus freeing up the operators to deal with the high priority signals immediately. These professionally trained operators are ready to assist clients, or dispatch reaction vehicles at an instants notice.

Through the use of one or more of our communication paths, i.e. our own dedicated radio network, landline communicators, or even cellular technologies, the signals are almost always guaranteed to reach us. Dependent on the signal event received, either an automated and/or operator action may be carried out.

Additionally to the conventional monitoring of dedicated alarm equipment, we have recently added a new Cell-Response service. This service requires no alarm system to be installed, merely to own a cellular phone.

The golden rule instilled in the control room operators is that should he have any doubt, regarding the security of a client's premises, he shall dispatch the armed response.

Our control room meets all the high standards of SAIDSA, thus ensuring that the control room will continue to function through any hazard.

Armed Response Services

• Integrity and a willingness to serve

The PMB Security armed response staff are all registered with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority and are carefully screened before being appointed.

Integrity and a willingness to serve are important attributes of the armed response team and members are drawn from all sectors of the community.

In an effort to give clients of PMB Security the quickest response time, the armed response vehicles are positioned at key locations in and around the greater Pietermaritzburg and Hilton area.

The vehicle closet to the client's premises is dispatched by the control room operator. The armed response officer proceeds as quickly as possible to the given address.

The duty of the armed response officer is to secure the premises and check for any signs of forced entry. In this way loss of property can be prevented or greatly reduced.

The armed response officer not only carries an firearm for his own protection, but also to protect the client from violent crime.

The armed response staff co-operate closely with South Africa Police Services in an effort to reduce crime and to bring the perpetrators to book.
